SOA VISUAL ARTS MAJOR, ENRIQUE BOYD, will have artwork displayed in US Capitol for a year! Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.

Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.

This year, SOA is beyond thrilled to announce the winner for office of our representative, Joe Cunningham, is 10th grade Visual Arts major Enrique Boyd.

Enrique received a phone call from Mr Cunningham, personally, who told Enrique that his artwork was amazing, but the story behind his piece was what held his attention and he can't wait to meet Enrique in D.C.!

Please join us in celebrating Enrique's accomplishment. His award winning drawing was done in colored pencil and graphite.
